Who We Are

About Us
ELCO is built on stability, long-term employment, and a strong connection to the communities we serve. For generations, our company has prioritized steady leadership, local partnerships, and a dedicated team committed to doing things the right way. These principles continue to define how we operate and grow today.
History
ELCO’s roots trace back to 1917, when Walter S. Wilber established a steam-powered sawmill in Elmsdale to support the wartime lumber effort. Through four generations of the Wilber family, the company has evolved from its early beginnings into a modern sawmill operation — guided by steady leadership, industry involvement, and continued investment in the future.

Workplace Safety
Workplace safety is a foundational priority at ELCO. Our company-wide commitment to safe practices includes annual policy reviews, regular inspections, and ongoing training to ensure every team member works in a safe and supportive environment. This culture of accountability and continuous improvement has been recognized within the forestry industry and remains central to how we operate today.

ELCO operates with a long-term perspective — balancing responsible resource management, operational consistency, and meaningful community connections. Our approach is grounded in steady leadership, practical experience, and a commitment to doing things the right way.
